Gerdan Theatre. Beyond the Christmas Night

Gerdan Theatre is a unique concert-theatrical project that brings the living soul of Ukraine to the stage. It is more than just a performance—it is a journey into the depths of Ukrainian culture, where music, dance, and poetry merge into a unified emotional tapestry capable of touching every spectator, regardless of age, language, or nationality.

For over 30 years, Gerdan Theatre has carefully preserved and reinterpreted Ukraine’s cultural heritage, transforming tradition into contemporary performing art. Each production is structured as a carefully crafted narrative, rich in symbols, imagery, and profound meaning. Ancient rituals, folk songs, original music, expressive movement, and theatrical action create a powerful, immersive experience, leaving the audience with a sense of inner renewal and inspiration.

Gerdan Theatre’s performances serve as an emotional dialogue between the stage and the audience. There are no accidental movements or sounds here; every note and every gesture carries the stories of generations, the memory of ancestors, and the strength of a nation. The ensemble masterfully blends authentic elements with a modern stage language, making Ukrainian culture accessible and deeply resonant for audiences worldwide.

The project gains a special depth through its human dimension. Some members of the ensemble serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the theatre actively supports the country’s defenders by donating a portion of its proceeds to the needs of the army.

This lends an additional layer of authenticity to every performance—what unfolds on stage is not an abstract story, but the living reality of contemporary Ukraine.

Gerdan Theatre is for audiences seeking more than mere entertainment; for those in search of a powerful cultural experience—music and theater enthusiasts, Ukrainian communities abroad, and international audiences eager to discover the true essence of Ukraine: sincere, profound, and unyielding. The performance lasts approximately 95 minutes, including an intermission. Though the time passes quickly, it leaves a lasting impression—a sense of pride, light, and inner strength, born from culture.

Gerdan Theatre—art that stays with you.
