About the show
Exhibition “ZARETSKY / HORSKA: HE AND SHE”October 14 – 23Mytets Art Gallery 12 Velyka Vasylkivska St. (Ukrainian Heroes Square metro station)
From October 14 to 23, the Mytets Art Gallery will host a unique exhibition of landmark graphic works by the legendary artistic duo Alla Horska and Viktor Zaretsky. For the first time under one roof, pieces from the largest private collections will be brought together—many of which have never before been shown publicly.
The graphics of the 1960s–1980s are presented here not only as artistic experiments, but also as vivid documents of their era.
Alla Horska, a leading figure of the Sixtiers movement, treated art as an act of freedom and civic courage. Her graphic works radiate deep inner energy and striking symbolism.
Viktor Zaretsky, the founder of the Ukrainian Neo-Secession movement, created a distinctive visual language that fused refined decorativeness with philosophical intensity. His graphic art stands out for its delicate sense of form and color, even in monochrome.
In the dialogue between these two figures lies love, mutual influence, and a shared struggle for spiritual and creative independence. The exhibition reveals how their works resonate with and amplify one another, forming a synergy that became a phenomenon of 20th-century Ukrainian art.
