Ukrainian “Super Blondie”
Olya Polyakova is a well-known name in Ukrainian show business. What is noteworthy is the fact that Olha uses her real name and surname, not hiding behind an image. She is better known to the public as “Суперблондинка” (Super Blondie), calling herself that after the release of her music video of the same name. It is also believed that Polyakova is a bright, modern, Ukrainian version of the equally outrageous global singer Lady Gaga.
Beginning
Olha was born in Vinnytsia, in the Soviet era, into a family of intellectuals. Her mother was a doctor, and her father was a politician and diplomat who spent most of his time away from home, but at the same time brought the girl interesting stories about Cuba and distant islands. Soon, when she was two years old, the whole family emigrated to Cuba. According to Olha herself, her godfather is none other than Fidel Castro himself. However, her fans take this news with smiles on their faces, because the artist herself is known for her specific sense of humor on the edge of reality.
Olha went to school in the capital of Ukraine. After graduating with honors, she also took piano lessons and then graduated from the Vinnytsia Music College of Culture and Arts. The young blonde does not stop there, and she has two graduations from higher education institutions, namely the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy. There, the future singer studied opera, showing her voice for the first time, which has a range of more than three octaves.
The journey to fame
It is known, that the artist, given her bright and remarkable appearance, started not with music venues, but with modeling, walking the catwalks of several countries. The footage of her work with various international and Ukrainian modeling agencies has also survived to this day, capturing the young Olya before she became wildly popular.
Olha worked as a model for several long years, flaunting her long legs, which would later become her main symbol, in Paris and Milan. But after she decided to enroll in the courses of S. Ricks, a world-class vocal teacher who has taught such stars as Madonna and M. Jackson, she firmly decided that it was time to quit walking the catwalks and trying on clothes in showrooms and become a real star.
Musical creativity
The beginning of Olha Polyakova's career dates back to 2001, when her first album was released. At the same time, the first music video was broadcast on television, which, unfortunately, went unnoticed by the public. All this time, until 2005, when she started collaborating with famous artists and changed producers, no one knew about Olha and did not notice her attempts to enter the music industry. This lasted until 2008, when her legendary video "Super Blonde" appeared, where Olha appeared in a new image of a Barbie doll, which later became her main feature and brought her immense popularity.
Peak of popularity
This stage of her career began in early 2011, when all music channels began broadcasting her music videos one after the other. Polyakova collaborates with popular stars such as L. Gurchenko, Potap and others, with whom she has recorded popular singles.
In 2013, after a fruitful collaboration with Potap, Olha recorded the mega-popular song "#Шлёпки", a track that still remains on the music charts. The release of this video, as well as the following ones, made the artist a mega-star, promoting her YouTube channel to the Top 10 performers in the CIS countries.
Her most popular video on the Internet was a small comedy for the song "Колишній", which was positively evaluated by music critics who emphasized the visuals and thoughtfulness of the details. Later, it was surpassed by the video for the track "Королева ночи", which gained about 70 million views!
Today, Olha is the most famous blonde singer and songwriter who has become popular thanks to her colorful image, constant change of outfits and frequent appearances on television, from morning programs to co-hosting awards with I. Urgant.
The appearance of large hats
For the first time, fans of Olya's work saw her in a “large headdress” in 2012 - in one of the videos, the star wore a kokoshnik on her head. And it happened when she was working with M. Yasinsky's music company. The image was warmly received by both the audience and critics, who appreciated the novelty, which later became her trademark.
Today, well-known Ukrainian and international designers work on creating each headdress for the artist. Rumor has it that it takes from several weeks to several months to create one headpiece, and the average weight of one of them can reach 10 to 25 kg. And this is despite the fact that the singer herself does not like to appear in public without high heels that complement her dance moves.
TV and other projects
Most of Polyakova's life is occupied not only by music, but also by participation in various television projects. Thus, throughout her career, she has appeared in dozens of programs and shows on many Ukrainian channels. Olha was the host of the shows "Who's Against the Blondes?", "Superstar", participated in the programs "Dolce Vita Kaput" and many others. She was also a member of the jury of the comedy show "League of Laughter", as well as the Ukrainian versions of the shows "Sing Like a Star", "Amazing People", "X-Factor", "Mask" and a coach in the show "The Voice".
An important stage of development in her life was the “Dancing with the Stars” project, where she faced judicial criticism from ballet prima donna Yelena Kukhar. According to the army of Polyakova's fans, she was unfairly excluded from the project, as she was as good as the professional dancers and coaches of the show in terms of plasticity and originality of her dance routines.
Nowadays
Olya gives charity concerts in support of Ukraine, does volunteer work, writes songs in Ukrainian and translates her well-known hits into Ukrainian. She also became an ambassador of the project “Дитинство без війни” (Childhood without War), created to evacuate orphans from the frontline areas.
